Friends of Avery Place

The Friends of Avery Place support the work of the Acer Court and Alder House Care home situated in Nottingham. Avery Place is a purpose-built care home offering Dementia, Nursing, Residential, Respite and End of Life care. Avery Place Care Home also provides specialist care for young people with physical disabilities.

The Friends aim to improve the quality of life of the residents of the care home by working with staff, residents and relatives.

We support the care homes’ activities’ coordinators by providing extra pairs of hands during organised activity sessions and outings.

2016

On the 4th July the Friends held their inaugural meeting to appoint committee members and agree a constitution

2017

An Awards for All grant funds a trolley service for the residents

2018

Friends launch their End of Life Sitter project. Volunteers are trained to provide companionship and emotional support to help residents find comfort and peace

2022

The image shows a variety of gift items for the shop. Items such as cuddly toys, toiletries and candles are shown

The Friends respond to requests from staff at Alder House and Acer Court to help with stock for the shop and trolley service so that residents can buy Christmas gifts for friends and relatives

2024

The photo shows a selection of wines and beers

The Friends donated some raffle prizes to the home’s summer fair. The items included some white wine, prosecco and sweets. The home and residents really appreciated this donation.
