Glan Clwyd League of Friends, also known as the Urdd Cyfeillion Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting patients, staff, and the overall operations of Glan Clwyd Hospital. Founded in 1974 by a group of farmers’ wives, the Friends began with a mission to improve the hospital experience through volunteer work and fundraising efforts. Over the decades, it has played a crucial role in enhancing healthcare services, providing essential equipment, and organising volunteer-driven initiatives. The Friends’ contributions, largely funded by donations, legacies, and its in-hospital shop, continue to make a significant impact on both the hospital and the local community. Through its dedication, the Friends of Glan Clwyd has become a pillar of support, fostering a strong partnership with the hospital and ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.

"I think you've got to be committed and want to do it. There's no point in thinking, “oh I’ll give it a go”, and you have to sort of get involved with a group as well. I think that helps really. It's nice to get involved with the group."
