The Together Project is a national charity with the primary aim of connecting members of various ages through boosting wellbeing and fostering a sense of community. The group works to end age segregation and reached over 3,000 beneficiaries in 2023.
The Project hosts a series of activities meant to combat loneliness among older age groups and the “age apartheid” of the UK by hosting intergenerational creative events. Their Songs & Smiles project brings the young and old together through weekly singing and dancing parties. Crafting Connections is an arts & crafts exchange where children are paired with care home residents to deliver art pieces each month. Lastly, We are Friends hosts storytelling sessions for under 5-year-olds and older people to enjoy free stories and rhymes.

The first Songs & Smiles event begins at Ross Wyld Care Home in Walthamstow, East London, where toddlers, their caregivers, and care home residents sing, dance, and make new friends each week.
The Together Project collaborates with the Ally Bally Bee Project, an initiative to help explain the process of Dementia and Alzheimers to young children by creating personalised books about their family member’s conditions. The foundation works to expose young children to these issues to eliminate stigma.
Songs & Smiles, partners with Hallmark Care Homes to spread the project to care homes all across England.
The Together Project supports BBC Music Day in the launch of BBC Music Memories, a project to bring music to Dementia patients and help them reconnect with powerful memories of their past.
In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, The Together Project launches Virtual Songs & Smiles, allowing 26 new care homes to join the party on Zoom.
The Together Project launches Hand in Hand Together, a project pairing children with care home residents. The children create artwork using their handprints, and write messages to care home residents. The works are sent all over the country, creating over 600 connections before the end of the program in May 2021.
Songs & Smiles in-person makes a return, starting with summer sessions and new safety protocols.
We are Friends launches to unite the old and young through storytelling.
