The League of Friends of the Llandovery Hospital

The League of Friends of the Llandovery Hospital is a charitable organisation composed of a hardworking group of volunteers. A resource body for the Llandovery Cottage Hospital, the dedicated volunteers host fundraising activities and collect donations from local towns and villages.

The funds raised are used to assist the Hospital with the cost of any efficiency improvements to premises, equipment or furnishings for the benefit of both the patients and the staff. A large amount of donations come from relatives and friends that show their appreciation for the excellent care they have had while in the care of Llandovery Cottage Hospital. The Friends raise thousands of pounds a year for the Hospital.


1982

The League of Friends of the Llandovery Hospital was registered with the Charity Commission

2018

Work to turn the hospital chapel into into a quiet visitor room was completed. The room was repainted, new carpet lain and comfortable installed.

2022

Mrs Nesta Evans, a volunteer at the League of Friends , was honoured with an Order of Mercy Award. During the year the Friends also purchased a wide variety of items for the hospital including 6 specialist chairs which help patients regain balance and posture, and 10 bed monitors. Alongside this they also bought 2 large televisions for the wards, 16 more usable bedside lockers and 5 hybrid power mattresses.

2024

The League deliver Christmas presents to patients who are in hospital over the festive period.

2025

The Friends receive many generous donations, and bequests every year from local companies, grateful patients and family members, the local community and from their many fundraising events.
