Stories of volunteers supporting the health service since 1949

Radio BGM

Llanelli

Radio BGM, formerly known as L.H.B.S (Llanelli Hospital Broadcasting Service), traces its origins back to 1974, when they operated out of the old geriatric hospital at Bryntirion Hospital.

From its inception, their core mission has remained steadfast: to provide a local voice and companionship for hospital patients, addressing issues and events significant to them.

In 1990, they relocated to their current headquarters in the main entrance of Llanelli’s Prince Philip Hospital. They take immense pride in contributing to the remarkable success stories unfolding within the hospital every day and express heartfelt gratitude for their ongoing support.

Recent years have seen the dedication of their members recognised. In 2023 they were delighted to have taken home three awards at the Hospital Broadcasting Awards, four years after taking home their first award in 2019, for “Best Show”.
