Friends of York Hospitals

The Friends of York Hospitals works closely with the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

They volunteer in the hospital to help improve the quality of life of patients.

They work to support York Hospital and two small rehabilitation hospitals for elderly patients, Nelson Court and White Cross Court. They fundraise to buy specialist equipment and projects to increase facilities and care for patients and their families.


1953

The Friends of York Hospital was founded

2018

The Friends of York Hospitals donated more than £36,000 to York Hospital Trust’s Dementia Appeal

2020

Donated £20,000 towards the cost of care boxes for staff and toiletry bags for patients at York Hospital.

2021

Awarded £9,426 to the ENT Department for an ENT Outpatient Microscope, replacing their 30 year old machine

2024

The Christmas raffles over the past three years have raised £2,468 for the Friends of York Hospital funds. Many prizes were kindly donated by local businesses and supporters.

2025

Robbie Cryer, Trustee of the Friends of York Hospitals cycled around all of the York & Scarborough NHS premises to raise funds to enhance patient care at York Hospital.

At an early age Pam began volunteering to help refugees, at the end of the Second World War. Those values were to stay with her, not only in her career as a teacher but also through the many different volunteering initiatives she enthusiastically embraced.
