The Burton Hospitals League of Friends

Burton-on-Trent

The Burton Hospitals League of Friends is an organisation which helps support Queen’s Hospital with extras and essentials. The Friends provide items through its shop, located at the hospitals main entrance,  and by fundraising for items such as fresh flowers, TVs,  wheelchairs, fans, DVD’s, and larger medical equipment.  The Friends are a registered charity, and have around 30 volunteers. It has been supporting the hospital for over 37 years.

 


1980

The League of Friends was founded

2011

The League raised £688 during their annual dog walk ‘Paws for Thought, £1500 during a 48 hour live broadcasted fundraiser and £700 by being Santa’s helpers and visiting residents near the hospital.

2023

The League wrapped over 500 Christmas presents for every patient at the hospital. They also raised £2000 for the Chemo Unit at Queen’s Hospital.

"The League of Friends had been in existence 35 years that year. So we decided that we were going to raise 35,000 pounds to buy equipment, and we presented them with 35,000 pounds worth of equipment."
